Located just West of Covington, VA in the County of Alleghany. Humback Bridge is one
of the few remaining covered bridges in the United
States that was built higher in the middle than on either end;
hence the name of “humpback”. The bridge was built in 1857 and is
also the oldest remaining covered bridge in the state of Virginia.
Humpback Bridge can be reached from Interstate 64 by taking
exit 10 to Route 60 and traveling one-half mile east, or by taking
Route 60 west from Covington. Plenty of picnic tables so bring
a basket and stay for the day.
